Our University
The scientific and technical progress has a tremendous effect on all the spheres of material and spiritual life both in our country and abroad. It has an influence on people’s qualification and makes great demand on the personnel training. Millions of young people get their higher education at the Universities and Academies. The number of students in our country is constantly growing.
Our University is not large. It was founded in 1999.
Every year hundreds of applicants come here to take entrance competitive exams. Those who are a success at the exams become students of a full-time, part-time or an extra-mural Department. There are four Departments at our University: the Humanities, the Economics, the Service Departments and the Department of Information Technology. All in all there study about 80 students.
The University we study at trains the specialists for different spheres of life: the future economists, managers, historians, designers and programmers. The teaching staff is rather qualified. Many of the teachers have Doctor’s and Candidate’s degrees. The course of study lasts 4-5 years depending on the Faculty.
An Academic year is divided into two terms. At the end of each term the students have an examination period or session. Each session is followed by the students’ vacations. The curriculum consists of the subjects the students specialize in, social subjects (the History, Philosophy, Political Economy etc.) and Physical training. Each student study one of foreign languages (English, French or German). The students of senior courses have to write a course paper. At the end of the study they write a final (diploma) paper or take the state exams. The attendance to the lectures and seminars is compulsory. Classes begin at 10 o’clock. At students disposal there is a library, a large canteen and a sport grounds. We know that the major problem of higher education today is the quality of knowledge and the growing importance of the personal factor and the all-round development of the individual.

English Universities
The best known universities of Great Britain are located in Oxford, Cambridge, London and several other cities. Oxford and Cambridge universities are known for their specific system of education.
Newton, Darwin and many other famous men studied at Cambridge. It was founded in 1209. Now Cambridge, like Oxford, is a collection of colleges. There are nineteen colleges at Cambridge and among them — two for women students, Colleges are built on a plan common to all. There is a library, a dining-hall and rooms for the students. Colleges are places where the students live, study and have meals together.
In each college there are students of all kinds. That is, one may find physics students, agricultural students and those of other specialties.
The college is headed by a Dean. Students are given advice and help
by teachers. Each week the work of every student is discussed and criticized
by the assistants. In addition, the students of all colleges attend
lectures at the University. The examinations are arranged and the degrees
are granted also by the University. The students study at the University
for four years, three terms a year. About 7.000 students of different
specialties are trained in Cambridge.
