     Відтак, можна стверджувати, що поставлених у цій роботі завдань було досягнуто, і дане дослідження допоможе ґрунтовніше зрозуміти сутність терміну «реалія» та визначити напрямки його подальшого вивчення.

RESUME

     The coursework called “The Peculiarities of the Translation of Realias from English into Ukrainian (Based on the Novel “Vanity Fair” by William Thackeray)” focuses on the realia as the word and phrase which is the bearer of historical and national colour and have no permanent equivalents in other languages and, as a result, the difficulty of  its translation. Emphasis rests on the investigation of the usage of realias in the analysed novel. The coursework offers an explanation of realia given by different scientists and a wide range of examples of its usage in fiction. The purpose of the coursework is to investigate the usage of realias in the analysed novel and define the peculiarities of their translation into Ukrainian.

     The research objectives of the paper are: 1. To explore the structure of realias used in the novel “Vanity Fair” by William Thackeray. 2. To analyse the classification of realias in the selected novel. 3. To analyse the means of translation of English realities into Ukrainian.

The object of investigation is the peculiarities of the translation of realias from

English into Ukrainian. The subject of the research is realia as words and phrases which are the bearers of historical, national colour and have no permanent equivalents in other languages.

     For the solution of the main research objectives we have used such scientific research methods: 1. The Method of Observation – for the selection of the facts needed for the research. 2. The Method of Comparison – for the analysis of the translation of English realias into Ukrainian. 3. The Encyclopedic Method – for studying the meanings of the words. 4. The Descriptive Method – for the consistent description, systematization and classification of the subject material.

     The theoretical value of the paper is that its results may be used as the basis for the further studying of the given problem. The practical value of the paper is that its results may be used in the practice of English teaching. The results of this research provide evidence that the problem of the translation of realias, as well as the problem of their definition, is still obvious and needs further research.
