5.      To investigate factors influencing the choice of translation device in concrete cases and to define common tendencies in the translation process; 

6.      To work out transformational models of translating English compounds words into Kazakh.

The methods applied during the course of research are comparative-contrastive method, transformational, descriptive, contrastive-typological methods, method of seme analysis, distributive method.

The scientific novelty of the thesis. The thesis for the first time:

-         conducts contrastive-typological analysis of structure and semantics of compound words in English and Kazakh languages;

-         gives the analysis of factors influencing the choice translation device of English compounds into Kazakh;

-         confirms the possibility of inner transformation from English compounds into Kazakh from the cognitive linguistics` angle;

-         presents semantic classification of compound words according to the model “noun+noun”;

-         investigates English and Kazakh correspondences of compound words built according to the model “noun+noun” from lingua-ethno-cultural aspect;

-         defines similarities and differences in principles of investigating compounds in English and Kazakh languages;

-         on the basis of contrasting compounds in English and Kazakh languages reveals typological peculiarities of their meaningful structure and functioning mechanism, which remain unexposed during researching every of the given languages separately.

The results of the research are:

-         there have been found similarities and differences in structural organization of compounds in the given contrasting languages;

-         there have been collaborated models of transforming English compound words into Kazakh;

-         there has been established semantic interdependence of the first and second components in English and Kazakh compounds;

-         there have been defined types of semantic correspondences in English and Kazakh compounds;

-         there have been established factors influencing the choice of the translation device in concrete cases and revealed common tendencies in the translation process;

-         there has been compiled a list of English compounds with their translation into Kazakh.

The theoretical importance of the research. The thesis contributes to collaborating main provisions of translation theory, points out structural-semantic peculiarities of compound words, also proposes variants for achieving translation adequacy. Scientific results and conclusions, promotes to the development of translatology, ethnolinguaculturology, theory of Kazakh and English linguistics.

The practical value of the research is concluded in the possibility to use its results during teaching/learning process: collaboration of lectures and tutorials in lexicology, word-formation, contrastive typology of Germanic languages and translation theory, in compiling English-Kazakh dictionary of compounds.

Perspectives of the research. The investigation of word-formation problems in English and Kazakh languages from typological viewpoint in connection with the development of translation theory in Kazakh linguistics.

The structure of the thesis. The thesis consists of introduction, two chapters, appendix, conclusion and bibliography.
